Traditional folk music instruments in Malta include a bagpipe made from the complete hide of a goat or dog.

No evidence of human sacrifice has ever been found in the temples or burial sites of the megalithic era in Malta.  Human bones of the temple period have been found in ritual burial context and examined, showing no evidence of unusual injuries or fractures.

The bone fragments and other material found in the temple niches and behind altars came from animals like goats, sheep, and cattle.   It is likely that much ceremony was attached to the taking of an animal to feed the community.

Animals were highly valued resources since horn, bone, sinew and other parts would be used for making tools and instruments, clothing and equipment.
