The artifacts on display at the National
Museum of Archaeology in Malta tell us a great deal about the people if
we look closely. Sculptors of the time left us stunning self
portraits that bring a sense of identity to the people of the temple
culture. Many of the faces look like people we might know or pass
on the street today.
Bones recovered from the tombs show
that the population was healthy and of typical robust Mediterranean
stature. They also had nice teeth.
